What I do

As an independent funeral celebrant I can slot into all sorts of situations where people want a meaningful ceremony to properly celebrate and farewell their person.

My service does not include delivering boring generic impersonal ceremonies.

I can help you curate a wonderful ceremony experience that honours your person in a way that aligns with who they were, including the beauty and hardships they may have faced.

I like to create spaciousness for stillness and reflection.
Where personal feelings entwine with the collective container.
A space that feels special and sacred and slow.
A place to drop into the healing of memories and stories.

Whatever comes it’s all welcome with grace in the ceremony space.

In the planning of your ceremony and wake consider:

  • “What would our person have wanted?”
  • Where will we go to celebrate them?
  • What will the gathering, eating and drinking plans be after the ceremony?
  • Do people need to bring chairs / what else?
  • Always include kids if you can and have a wet weather plan B.
  • Would you like to consider a smoking ceremony or indigenous blessing for your person?

One of my favourite ways of honouring our dead is in nature, or a place with a nice aspect that was special to them, or would resonate with them. A bushy glen, local hall, protected beach location, Chapple or anywhere at all that feels like a space and place where that person would like to be for their final earth-bound shin dig. The sky is the limit. I embrace all locations and can help you choose the right one.

Hi, I'm Susie...

Thank you for taking the time to get to know a little bit about me, in what must be a difficult time...

With a long celebrant and ceremonial background, I felt a calling some years ago to begin working with death, and my learning and growth journey in this space continues to be very humbling indeed.

Having now facilitated over 60 memorials and funerals, I have embraced the gold of peaceful passings and the confronting nature of tragic and unexpected deaths.

People say I bring a natural heart centred way-of-being with families after a death, taking the time to understand their person, and offering guidance, options and ideas. Then I create a soft reverent space for the ceremony to unfold, allowing people to process and grieve the departure of their loved one while also celebrating their life.

This work has metamorphosed the way I look at absolutely everything! It’s a continual process of growth, humility and heart expansion, transforming my life into a richer experience of living and relating with people, nature and everything in between.

I make it my priority to understand the beliefs of the family I am working with, and the person who has died, so that I can honour and acknowledge these) in the ceremony

For a sensitive chat about your plans give me a call or ping me an email anytime. Please also text if you miss me... and time is of the essence.

We can never fill the gap that is left when we lose someone we love, but we can farewell them and celebrate their life in a way that is personal and really beautiful. We only get one chance at a group goodbye, and my role is to facilitate a shared experience that is as meaningful and healing as possible.
